Style and the Search for Self.

Style is a language, landing where culture intertwines with person. It can be tied to our similtaneous desire for both individuality and belonging and our most held inner longings to orientate ourselves in the world.

Dressing creates moments of sensual pleasure that can invite us into body, stimulating the most primal of human feelings, touch. Thus our desires in dressing may correlate to our most basic human desires to be seen, heard, touched and felt. It is a means through which we non verbally communciate our interiority, a form of expression, and in it’s very essence a movement, that has the power to include and represent.

Coming to know our own innate sense of style can be a catharisis in beginning to understand ourselves. It can be a form of liberation, moving us away from the dictates of fashion, and offering us a chance to become more intimate with our own bodies, to acquaint ourselves with our own self perceptions and a physical means through which we can explore the shifting landscape of our constant and evolving selves.
