Enoughness.

Enough is so vast a sweetness, I suppose it never occurs” Emily Dickenson.

For anyone who has had the privilege of holding a newborn baby, their eyes wide open, staring unblinkingly into one’s own eyes, and beyond into one’s soul, then one in that moment becomes the honoured owner of a deep awareness that just being is enough. More than enough. Simply being is awe, wonder and joy.

As we grow amidst the human ecosystem, slowly our sense of being, our wholeness can be eroded. We are encouraged to be more, make more, do more. Achieve, strive, gain, to reach our potentials. The subliminal message, we are not enough. It is possible that we undervalue the meaning and virtues of enough in our pursuit of more.

Lying within enough is the rich textures of aliveness. It’s enough to sit and watch the ripples of water, mesmerised, enough to watch the clouds pass? To feel the soft touch of skin, or glory in the feeling of fresh air. To breathe. Is there a greater luxury in life than to appreciate the enoughness of what we have and what we are? That we are enough just exactly the way we are? That no more is needing to be done, to be gained, than what is available to us in this very moment.
