HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Notes on Healing.
In our times of greatest adversity, of greatest crisis, we seek confirmation, comfort, healing. Healing-the transcendence suffering, pursues a deep and profound resolution of our wounds, our pain, our distress. In healing we are restored to an internal place that is free of constriction or construct. In this place, mind is continuous with body, ourselves with each other. The illusion of separations are dissolved. Manifest in stillness, we become seamless. “Prescriptions assume that something needs to be fixed, transformation brings forth the healing, the coming to integrity- to wholeness of what is already there” (Mate 2023). To be absolute, healing must occur within us, and between us. All pieces of our being collected into a unitary whole, our sense of belonging, of place resurrected. In healing, a feeling of reverence is invited back into the self, and we experience ourselves and each other not through our exteriority but through our shared inner humanity. It requires care, not cure.
This piece was originally intended to provide consideration and conceptual clarity for the meaning of ‘healing’. The term healing has become diverse in its application, utilised within a multitude of contexts and situations, to the effect of creating some opacity surrounding its understanding.
