HEALTH AND WELLBEING
The Question of Wellbeing.
Embracing the essence of our lives, and embedded in its sensorial qualities lies the construct of wellbeing. With its contemporary uprising, wellbeing has assumed a cultural rather than a personal interpretation. It has come to be associated with the pursuit of invincibility- with technological advancement our bodies have become analogous to machinery- and attached to stipulation. Being well, has become defined by the situation of our lives rather than our innate desire to grow, to flourish, to pursue meaning, and to find value inherent in the human experience. Scientific inquiry in the quest to clarify the constituents of wellbeing has turned to investigate these encompassing and fundamental aspects of life- seeking to answer how as humans do we flourish, what does define our quality of life and where and how do we find fulfilment and realise our potentials? Maybe the responsibility of answering these questions, rests not with scientists, but-in our own pursuits of trying to live a life well lived-, the privilege and responsibility of answering these questions is one that we must individually seek. We can define our own wellbeing.
