HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Breathe.
Breathing not only sustains life but can augment it. The influences of breathing within the body exceeds that of simply oxygenating our cells, having a wider integrative function on all systems of the body improving sleep, metabolism, reducing stress, facilitating energy production, supporting mental and emotional capabilities. Owing to the special organisation of breathing patterns between the parts of the brain that are conscious and those that we are not aware of, respiration as the only physiological function within the body that has this organisation, can be engaged to rapidly change how we feel and how we think. In the absence of awareness of breathe and through the exposure to the demands of daily living, our breathing patterns can shift from a deeper more instinctive way into something that matches the pace of life, more rushed, less expansive. In turning attention to breath a sense of rhythm within can be found, a sense of internal harmonisation, and a feeling of health and of healing can emerge.
